Floor Care

Care of Your Floors

After your wood floors have been restored, there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure your floors have dried sufficiently and cured.

  • Do not walk on floors for at least 24 hours
  • You can replace furniture in 2-3 days
  • Replace rugs in 3 weeks

To clean your floors, I recommend mopping them with Polycare or Bona Hardwood Floor Cleaner. Follow directions on the bottles. Please avoid oil-soap-cleaners, as they will cause bonding issues if you want to recoat your floor in the future.

Protect Your Floors

Use the following tips that will enable you to enjoy your refinished floors for years.

  • Use felt floor protectors under your furniture
  • Use floor mats under your furniture
  • Trim pet’s claws often

Recoating Your Floors

After three to five years, I recommend that homeowners call me to clean and recoat their floors to maintain their overall appearance. This is done by first cleaning and then recoating the wood with a new coat of finish. This process will ensure that your floors continue looking their best!
